One stitch at a time...

I am in the early stages of crocheting a blanket. Depending on how focused I am, it can take me up to an hour, just to complete one row.
Sometimes I feel reluctant to pick it up, realising just how long it will take me to complete the project. Even though generally, I find the hobby very satisfying and relaxing, sometimes I just feel the end goal is too far off, too overwhelming... Motivation drains away as it trickles through my fingers like water.

This reminds me of how important it is to celebrate even the smallest of achievements as if they were a collection of stitches. Eventually, those tiny stitches will be a cosy blanket.
Perhaps a small 'stitch' might be cleaning just one room in our home. Or writing just one page of an assignment. Or weeding just one small corner in the garden. Or breaking it down even further into just planning the next step.

Stopping to notice and appreciate the small 'stitch' we have done can then give us the incentive to keep going.
Discounting the seemingly 'insignificant' stitches can perpetuate the cycle of overwhelm and defeatism, whereas celebrating those small, insignificant wins can be really key to consistent progress.

If just getting started on the next chapter of your book of life is proving too overwhelming, drop me a message or email me at hello@daretosoartherapy.com.
